sorry, you probably get this alotttt.
i have been looking, but its mighty hard.
are there any old polaroid camera's which film is still available for?
There seems to be other alternatives with some of the polaroids, but it seems quite complex to sort out.
Thanks x

You should check out the Fuji Instax line, everything is still being manufactured, including the cameras ;)

My best friend just gave me a Polaroid OneStep 600. The actual Polaroid film for it is 50 bucks a pop, and I'm not planing to spend that much money. I heard that Fuji had an alternative (FP-100C) that worked. I was wondering if you had hear anything about it, or if you knew weather or not it worked.

Not to be a grammar Nazi (except I am a grammar Nazi) but it’s “whether or not” sorry, I can’t help myself…. moving on, I had been using Fuji Instax in the studio (for test shots) long before Polaroid was ever discontinued, and it’s actually known for having more accurate color. Also, considering the Japanese are crazy for film, and Fuji has no plans to stop manufacturing anytime soon, you probably can’t go wrong switching to Fuji. I just ordered some FP-100 C45 (which is the same as what you’re referring to, just in 4x5 format) so I will post and let you know how it turns out…

hey i know this may seem like a stupid thing to have done, but i bought a polaroid one step a few months ago and have been having a lot of trouble finding film since i know it's discontinued..do you know of anyone/anywhere or sites that sell it? or if theres a compatible film i can use?

For actual “polaroid” brand film, you can try The Impossible Project… but I will warn you, I am not a big polaroid person (I only used them in the studio for tests) but I have heard from avid polaroiders that the Impossible Project is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. But it’s Polaroid.

Or you can check out the Fuji Instax line, which is also instant film and is still currently manufactured today. I believe they have many equivalents of Polaroid formats….

I'm about to buy a polaroid and i'm pretty new to it. I want to get a decent one where the quality is still good but i want the pictures to have the classic white borders. Been looking at some on Ebay and it says about the film, you can get 600, 500 etc. do you know what the film number stands for? Is it like the ISO on a manual film roll? Also, do you have any places you could suggest for me to buy a polaroid? Thank you! :)

I’ve heard that the impossible project is bringing back Polaroid film, but it’s still not widely manufactured and it’s the film type that determines the wide borders. You might want to try a Fuji Instax instead…

I'm looking to buy a good Instant Polaroid Camera, do you know have any recommendations? Thank you! I love all of your photos :)

Actually I would recommend buying a Fuji Instax instead, since the whole line is still being manufactured by Fuji.

Sunday Ebay Deals: Film Cameras and Expired Film

It’s Sunday again…. which means it’s time for Sunday Ebay Deals yay (and uh oh I hope I don’t buy any of the cameras I post this week). For those of you who haven’t notices, I only post fully manual cameras because I am old school like that.

I thought it would be a good idea to include some film deals this week, since I’ve gotten quite a few questions about buying film on Ebay. I even found some good Polaroid film deals for those of you desperately searching.

Here we go:

35mm SLRs:

  • Rolleiflex SL35: current bid 42 pounds, ends in 10 hours, comes with 50mm 1.8 lens. This camera is effing beautiful. http://tinyurl.com/yb66guh
  • Minolta X-370 KIT: current bid $36.50, ends in 10 hours, comes with 80-200mm lens, 28mm wide angle lens, 50mm lens, leather case, UV lens filter, lens hood http://tinyurl.com/yave9ly

Film:

  • 50 Sheets Kodak Ektachrome: current bid $12.50, 64T, expired 2006 but refrigerated, 4x5 format, ends in 6 hours. 4x5 film is super expensive… part of me wants to bid on this http://tinyurl.com/ybbpukl
  • Polaroid Type 668 Land Film Pack: current bid $16.95, double pack (16 shots), EXPIRED 1987, ends in 1 day, 17 hours. This film is super old and super rare, it could have the coolest expired polaroid effects ever or it could be totally black. Someone should risk it http://tinyurl.com/y99d5tl

PS: If you have bought one of the cameras listed in my past Ebay deals, it would be the coolest thing ever if you photo-reply with a picture of it :)

Meet My Babies: Part V

As I continue presenting my babies (check Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV to see the first 20), I am realizing that I really needed to catalog them and there are so many that I need to use again. Anyway, here’s the next set of 4:

The Alsaphot: This baby is the newest edition to my collection, so I still don’t know that much about it. It was given to me by my sweetheart’s grandfather, who is also a photographer (and total Leica nut). I believe the shutter still works, but it definitely needs a cleaning. Takes 35mm film.

The Polaroid EE44: Another Polaroid for whom there is no film :-( This camera was given to me by my sweetheart’s mother (a lot of people give me cameras) when she was cleaning out her basement. It totally still works, takes AA batteries for the flash and everything.

The Moscva 5: Meet my next Russian baby, and one of the cameras that is closest to my heart. I’ve had it since I was a teenager, but I can’t seem to remember where I bought it. It was made in the 1950’s and shoots 6x6 or 6x9 medium format. Not only does this camera still work, it takes incredible photos. I think it has to do with the fact that it’s so dense and heavy you could kill someone with it.

The Voigtlander Compur: This is one of the newest additions to my collection; it was given to me by my sweetheart’s grandfather on our last trip to Brittany. This camera is officially my oldest, made in the 1913. Almost 20 film backs, 4 developing tanks, film holders, and clips came with the camera so I will definitely be able to use it. Although the film format has been out of production for years, said amazing grandfather made me a glass guide to cut down 4x5 film. There were some sheets of film inside, but they were ruined when I opened the backs and discovered them… sigh…
