hmmm…. long sigh…. how do I feel about the D300s…. well I bought it, so obviously it has strong points. One of them being that it works with all of the lenses I had for my Nikon FM2, even the manual ones from the 70’s and 80’s. It also has very low noise even at a high “ISO.” It takes nice pictures… although personally I feel like the color is always on the red side even when I customize the white balance, so I am definitely color correcting 100% of the time. But it still doesn’t compare to my film cameras… a full resolution scan of a medium format negative completely blows it out of the water.
I feel like it’s necessary to have a digital SLR from a practical working standpoint - sometimes you have to do it fast and cheap… and for that purpose I think the D300s is a good option. But whenever I have the choice I prefer to shoot film.
