Meet My Canon Canonet:

This is one of my newest babies and was given to me by my Twin Flame (also known as MeauxWasTaken). It’s still functioning but appears to have a non-functioning selenium light meter around the lens…

Sunday Ebay Deals: Film Cameras and Expired Film

It’s Sunday again…. which means it’s time for Sunday Ebay Deals yay (and uh oh I hope I don’t buy any of the cameras I post this week). For those of you who haven’t notices, I only post fully manual cameras because I am old school like that.

I thought it would be a good idea to include some film deals this week, since I’ve gotten quite a few questions about buying film on Ebay. I even found some good Polaroid film deals for those of you desperately searching.

Here we go:

35mm SLRs:

  • Rolleiflex SL35: current bid 42 pounds, ends in 10 hours, comes with 50mm 1.8 lens. This camera is effing beautiful. http://tinyurl.com/yb66guh
  • Minolta X-370 KIT: current bid $36.50, ends in 10 hours, comes with 80-200mm lens, 28mm wide angle lens, 50mm lens, leather case, UV lens filter, lens hood http://tinyurl.com/yave9ly

Film:

  • 50 Sheets Kodak Ektachrome: current bid $12.50, 64T, expired 2006 but refrigerated, 4x5 format, ends in 6 hours. 4x5 film is super expensive… part of me wants to bid on this http://tinyurl.com/ybbpukl
  • Polaroid Type 668 Land Film Pack: current bid $16.95, double pack (16 shots), EXPIRED 1987, ends in 1 day, 17 hours. This film is super old and super rare, it could have the coolest expired polaroid effects ever or it could be totally black. Someone should risk it http://tinyurl.com/y99d5tl

PS: If you have bought one of the cameras listed in my past Ebay deals, it would be the coolest thing ever if you photo-reply with a picture of it :)

i havn't been reading your blog long so i'm not sure if you've previously posted this but what cameras do you own/use?

I did, you can see a bunch of them if you click on “My Vintage Cameras”

I think its awesome that you still shoot film! My mom bought me a Canon G11 film camera a few months ago and I've been using it ever since. Do you print your own pictures or do you take it somewhere to do it?

I printed my own stuff for years (I also worked as a printer in college) but I no longer have a darkroom at my fingertips :(

I do, however, have a totally kick ass lab that does everything by hand.

I've been shooting digital for the past 3 years, but the last few months I've just been falling more and more in love with film. I am looking for a little rangefinder to walk around with. Someone recommended an old Rollei 35. What would you recommend?

Yes a Rollei is ok, or a Kodak Retinette, or one of various Canon rangefinders… Actually if you do an ebay search for 35mm SLR you’d be really surprised the number of rangefinders you’ll find.

hey, i love your blog, and i've been using a digital slr and a lomo diana (yes... i know how people feel about lomo hahah) but i was wondering, what's a good film slr to start of on? thanks!

All of the cameras I post on Sunday’s Ebay deals are good SLRs for beginners :)
